Vienna (OTS) – The best of the best in Austria had a big appearance on Thursday evening (March 7th) in the ballroom of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce in Vienna. At the “Best of Talent” gala of the federal trade and craft sector, 31 winners of the federal apprenticeship competitions from all over Austria were honored for their top achievements.

Host Renate Scheichelbauer-Schuster, chairwoman of the Federal Division of Trade and Crafts in the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, presented the trophies and certificates together with Youth State Secretary Claudia Plakolm, WKÖ Vice President Philipp Gady and Skills Austria President Josef Herk. Before that, Education Minister Martin Polaschek had visited the Skills Week marketplace in the WKÖ, where students found inspiration for their professional future.

“Let’s celebrate, the future belongs to you,” said Renate Scheichelbauer-Schuster. She congratulated the young skilled workers and acknowledged their great achievements: “Having talent is one thing. But you also have to make something of it: you have developed your talent with ambition, passion and a lot of love for your job. This makes you role models for other young people who want to follow the best.” She also thanked the companies, trainers and families for supporting and motivating the young people so intensively.

“For me, this day stands for information, motivation and emotion,” emphasized WKÖ Vice President Philipp Gady: “The fact that young people can no longer be motivated today is a prejudice: you are proof that there are many young people who are top performers want to reach. It’s often tiring and hard, but it really pays off. We can rightly be proud of the quality of training offered by our companies.”

The gala was presented sympathetically and confidently by Servus TV news presenter Katrin Prähauser and seamlessly transitioned into an exuberant party, musically accompanied by the pop duo 8WS (the brothers Lukas and Florian Fendrich). Many federal guild masters, specialist association managers and apprentice supervisors did not miss the celebration of “their” best apprentices – from A for automation to Z for machining technology.

The Skills Week Marketplace had already taken place at the WKÖ before that. With great enthusiasm, students from several PTS soldered photovoltaic kits, made pipes and bracelets with the plumbers, guessed different trades using the buzzer game, programmed cell phone games, let the humanoid robot NAO communicate via chat GPT or posed in the master alumni photo corner Club AI-supported in a master’s guise.

The Skills Heroes proved that there are practically no limits to career opportunities through dual training – these are successful participants in the EuroSkills and WorldSkills professional competitions. Wolfgang Ramminger (carpenter), Klarissa Wimmer (IT), Carina Warisch (hotel), Marco Panhölzl (cook) and Christoph Schipflinger (garden design) took a lot of time to inform the students and the apprentices regarding the wide range of their professions to motivate people to take part in the competitions.
