MEMBER of the NasDem Party faction, Taufik Basari, asked the public to continue monitoring the process of the Special Jakarta Regional Law Draft (RUU DKJ). This needs to be monitored together so that points related to the election of the Governor of DKI Jakarta through regional elections remain included in the bill.
“I am optimistic that in discussing the DKJ Bill with the government, hopefully we can restore the people’s rights through direct gubernatorial elections. It is no longer like the initial draft where there was an appointment from the president. “We still have to be guarded by the public when there are discussions between the DPR and the government,” said Tobas, Taufik’s nickname at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday (7/3).
He emphasized that monitoring is important so that points that take away people’s voices and rights suddenly appear in the middle of the road.
“Don’t let it appear like what Prof. Mahfud. The concern is that the election process was carried out by the DPR, then two names were put forward. The two names were submitted to the president for selection. “That means it’s still not a direct election that involves the community,” he said.
Previously, Deputy Chairman of the DPR RI, Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, confirmed that the Governor of Jakarta would be elected through regional head elections (pilkada). This, said Dasco, has been stated in the problem inventory list (DIM) of the new DKJ Bill. (Z-7)
