The formation of a special committee (pansus) by the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) is considered to be able to add ammunition to investigate election fraud. Member of the NasDem party faction, Taufik Basari, said that the DPD special committee was able to add strength to the DPR in its efforts to roll out the right to inquiry and investigate election and presidential election fraud.

Tobas also explained that the DPD special committee might provide input to the Indonesian DPR during the process of rolling out the right to inquiry.

“But the mechanism is that the DPD special committee is not related to the right to inquiry submitted by the DPR. Because at the very least, perhaps there will be findings put forward by the DPR. “Because at the very least, perhaps there are findings obtained by the DPD which can also be used as material for us when we carry out this right of inquiry,” said Tobas, Taufik’s nickname, to media crew at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday (7/3 ).

In particular, Tobas said that the NasDem faction firmly supports and continues to fight for the right to an election inquiry so that it can be implemented. This, continued Tobas, was demonstrated by the focus group discussion (FGD) held by the NasDem Fraction to discuss the right to inquiry with experts today.

“What is clear is that currently the NasDem faction is very serious. We are preparing two things. First, strengthening the substance of the right to inquiry. That’s why we held an FGD today, inviting experts to get input. It was already held. “There are Jeirry, Bivitri, Chusnul and Ray to provide input and strengthen what we are preparing,” said Tobas.

He also hopes that the discourse to roll out the right to inquiry is not just a political gimmick. He said the right to inquiry must be realized immediately. Therefore, he said that the substance of the right to inquiry needed to be discussed carefully and contain strong arguments.

“Don’t let the right of inquiry just become a joke because the substance is zonk, it doesn’t exist or we don’t have a strong argument,” he said. (Dis/Z-7)
