Gresini Racing RACER, Marc Marquez, will make his debut race on a Ducati motorbike at the Qatar MotoGP on Sunday (11/3).
Marquez also admitted that he had no motivation to climb the podium in this race. He is only aiming to finish in fifth or sixth position at the Qatar GP later.
“What I want to do is feel competitive once more. But that doesn’t mean winning the championship, it means fighting for the top 5-6 positions,” said Marquez, quoting Crash (7/3).
“This is what I wanted, but not immediately in the first race (Qatar GP),” he added.
Marquez confirmed that his party feels comfortable on the Ducati motorbike and wants to step by step record positive results in the 2024 season.
“I feel comfortable but not ready to fight for the podium, not ready to fight for the victory. Step by step we have to create a base and try to understand over the weekend where we are,” he said.
For the record, the Gresini team has won the last two Qatar Grand Prix through former drivers Enea Bastianini (2022) and Fabio di Giannantonio (2023). (Crash/Z-8)
