Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said his country is ready to take a role as a guarantor country in the framework of the Palestinian resolution, urged unity among Palestinian factions and once once more accused Israel of carrying out a genocidal policy once morest Palestinians in Gaza.
Specifically, he stated: “We are witnessing one of the greatest barbarities of the century. With the unlimited support of Western powers, Netanyahu and his government are committing genocide once morest the Palestinian people. He further asserted that “one of the best responses to Israel’s oppression is to ensure unity and solidarity among the Palestinians,” stressing that Turkey is always ready to do its duty and will continue to support all efforts to defend of the Palestinian cause in any way.
He also said that Turkey is continuing its efforts to build a field hospital in Gaza.
“The Israeli attacks on the Occupied Palestinian Territories were at the top of our agenda in every meeting we had and in every visit abroad,” added the Turkish president, commenting that the “so-called settlers,” who “actually occupy and steal the lands they belong to the Palestinians,” are one of the biggest obstacles to a solution.
He once once more blamed the West, saying: “The Israeli government continues to kill our brothers indiscriminately if they are women and children, and massacre civilians while they are waiting in line for food. The root cause of this illegal behavior by Israel is the support given to Israel by the Western powers because of their sins in the Holocaust.”
“It is now understood that peace in the Middle East will not be possible unless there is a just solution to the Palestinian issue,” said Recep Tayyip Erdogan and concluded by reiterating the constant position he expresses at every opportunity, that “the only way for a lasting peace is the establishment of an independent, sovereign and geographically unified Palestinian state, within the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital”.
For his part, Mahmoud Abbas asked to intensify efforts to provide international protection to Palestine. “The permanent inclusion of Palestine in the United Nations by decision of the Security Council is something we desire,” he stressed.
At the same time, he expressed his gratitude for Turkey’s continuous support to the Palestinians and conveyed their sincere greetings and thanks to President Erdogan and the brotherly Turkish people.
“Turkey fulfills its historical responsibility towards the Palestinian people on the basis of brotherhood and fulfills all its responsibilities in the best way,” Mahmoud Abbas said.
