The race for humanoid robots accelerates

The Chinese manufacturer Unitree has just revealed a video of the new version of its H1 humanoid robot. It can now run faster than Boston Dynamics’ Atlas robot, which previously held the world record.

To what vitessevitesse runs a robot? The world record for humanoid robotshumanoid robots was held until now by Atlas from Boston Dynamics, which managed to reach 9 km/h (2.5 m/s). However, it has just been beaten by H1, the new humanoid robot from Unitree. The Chinese manufacturer has posted a video online showing its capabilities, including its running speed which can reach 11.88 km/h (3.3 m/s).

Unitree is already known for its chienchien robot largely inspired by Spot from Boston Dynamics, whose latest version, Go2, is sold for only $1,600. The new video presents the third generation of its humanoid robot, which in all likelihood will be the commercialized version, and will compete not only with Atlas from which it is strongly inspired, but also Optimus from Tesla, or even Figure 01. In addition to running very fast , the robot can dance, jump, ride stairsstairs and even catch up following being pushed.

Mid-year delivery

The robot measures 180 centimeters and weighs 47 kilos. It runs at a speed of 5.4 km/h (1.5 m/s), and according to its datasheet can potentially reach a running speed in excess of 18 km/h (5 m/s), although nothing still attests to such a feat. H1 does not have hands, but Unitree is reportedly developing them for a next generation of the robot, and one of the clips in the video shows it with rudimentary hands. The robot also has the particularity of wearing clothes, presumably to hide the wiring in its legs and hollow torso.

H1 is expected to cost between $90,000 and $150,000, and Unitree already opened pre-orders last year. The firm plans to deliver the first robots in the middle of the year.
