After 15 years of good and loyal service, while its lifespan was estimated at a decade, the synthetic turf on the Forges pitch will be replaced. The project will be launched during the football championship break, at the end of June, for a period of six weeks. The General Council of the Watchmaking Metropolis unanimously accepted on Wednesday evening the credit of 650,000 francs to carry out the work.
During the debate around this report, almost all political groups took the opportunity to get news from the Foulets field. Since 2014, municipal authorities have been talking regarding the installation of a synthetic lawn. A credit of nearly 2 million francs voted in 2019 had raised its share of opposition. The City had lifted them before being rejected by the Canton.
Recently, the City took over the file. The authorities are due to meet local residents soon. They hope to be able to complete the file soon.
The Chaux-de-Fondier executive was also questioned regarding the renovation of the athletics ring at the La Charrière sports center. The aging infrastructure notably hosts the Résisprint, an international competition. A credit for its renovation will in principle be included in the 2025 budget. This involves maintaining a tool that allows the region to shine well beyond its borders. Discussions are underway with the canton and the municipalities.
