In connection with the death of a 14-year-old, who was found lifeless in the apartment of a 26-year-old in Vienna-Simmering on Tuesday around 11:30 a.m., the authorities are currently not assuming foul play. The public prosecutor confirmed this on Wednesday evening. “There is currently no evidence of a sexual offense and there is currently no evidence of a drug offense,” said authority spokeswoman Nina Bussek to the APA. The man is not considered a suspect.
The state police department had previously stated that the 26-year-old had started the rescue chain because the teenager was no longer showing any signs of life. The rescue workers began resuscitation, but might no longer do anything for the girl. The State Criminal Police Office is investigating a serious death, police spokeswoman Barbara Gass told the APA.
As prosecutor spokeswoman Bussek explained, a forensic doctor has already examined the body. There were no signs of violence on the 14-year-old’s body. A toxicological report will now clarify the exact cause of death.
The 26-year-old is not considered a suspect
“The 26-year-old is not listed as a suspect. There are no criminal investigations,” police spokeswoman Gass had previously made clear. However, residues of substances were found in the young woman’s body during the postmortem examination. “But we don’t know which ones and in what concentration,” explained Gass. The toxicology report is intended to clarify whether the teenager’s death is in any way related to these substances. Where she got these from is unclear. As the public prosecutor’s office emphasized, there is currently no indication that the 26-year-old might be linked to this.
The 26-year-old has already been questioned by investigators. However, the police kept a low profile with details regarding the man’s statements. The state police headquarters did not want to comment on media reports on Wednesday that the man who died had given drugs. Details regarding the relationship between the two were also not given.
