“I repent for not living up to expectations as a monk. I am taking seriously the words that many people have given me. Using your advice as a teaching, I will work harder to carry out my duties as a monk: missionary work, preaching, charity, and service. “It’s not enough, but please stay tuned.”

This is the first greeting uttered by Monk Hyemin, who returned to broadcasting through BTN Buddhist TV following three years.

Monk Hyemin hosted the first broadcast of BTN Buddhist TV’s ‘This is Hyemin, a cafe where your mind can rest’, which was released on the 4th. Monk Hyemin said of this broadcast, “Don’t you go to a cafe when you want to take a break from your busy daily life, when you want to talk with good friends, or when you want to heal your mind while listening to good music? “The ‘Cafe where the mind rests’ is one such place,” he said, adding, “If you have a difficult or difficult story, you can share it with me, listen to good music, meditate, and learn the good teachings of Buddha.”

The theme of the first broadcast was ‘Discernment creates good and bad things.’ Monk Hyemin said, “When something happens, I can make hasty predictions without realizing it, but in reality, life is not something that is set in stone.” He added, “If something good happens, it’s not something to get too excited and boast regarding, but if something bad happens, I get discouraged and despair. “There is no need to feel depressed,” he said. “I don’t know yet whether this is good or bad,” he said. “I don’t want to be too happy or too discouraged when something happens. “We must live our daily lives in a balanced, calm and far-sighted perspective,” he said.

Monk Hyemin introduced the story of an acquaintance who had cancer and said, “Rather, he used cancer as a turning point to live a good life.” This acquaintance told Monk Hyemin, “Before I got cancer, I lived only looking forward, but when I got sick, I was able to feel other people’s pain, and the ordinary daily life that I took for granted felt so precious, and I felt grateful for my relationships with my family and friends.” do.

There were also opposite cases. It was the story of a Buddhist who quit his job six months following his son got a job at a large company. Monk Hyemin said, “I achieved what I really wanted and achieved a goal that made me happy, but in reality, I felt empty and realized that the results may be different from what I expected.”

Monk Hyemin said, “When something happens, the incident itself is neither good nor bad. The Buddha said that in order to realize the truth, you must see the reality as it is.” He also said, “If we comment on the situation ourselves, we will not be able to fully see the experience itself and live in a state of discrimination.” He also said, “What if we go beyond discrimination and look at the phenomenon carefully?”

Previously, monk Hyemin appeared on an entertainment program in November 2020 and faced controversy over ‘full ownership’ following revealing a mansion located in Samcheong-dong, Jongno-gu, Seoul, overlooking Namsan Tower. Following her criticism, Buddhist monk Hyemin posted her apology on social media in December of the same year and announced a hiatus from her broadcasting activities.
