According to Verstappen senior, calm must return to his son’s team following a number of tumultuous days with team boss Christian Horner in the leading role.

“This situation is not good for the team and drives people apart,” he told De Telegraaf. “It cannot continue this way and there will be tension in the air.”

He told the Daily Mail regarding Horner: “The team is in danger of falling apart. It cannot continue like this. It will explode one day. Horner plays the victim, while he is the cause of the problems.”

Red Bull responded

Verstappen did not want to elaborate on his statements to the NOS today. Red Bull denies via the BBC that the team is under pressure. “There is nothing wrong in that regard. The team is a unit and is focused on racing.”

Horner was acquitted on Wednesday following Red Bull’s internal investigation following accusations of inappropriate behavior. A day later, an anonymous email containing WhatsApp traffic between Horner and the employee in question was leaked. The authenticity of these messages cannot be verified.

It made for a tumultuous weekend for Verstappen’s team, who won the Bahrain Grand Prix on Saturday with force majeure.
