Solid Luke Humphries thrashes Ricky Evans in second semi-final at UK Open

Luke Humphries will face Dimitri van den Bergh later on Sunday evening in the final of the UK Open Darts 2024. In the second semi-final, ‘Cool Hand Luke’ was far too strong for Ricky Evans.

The difference was mainly made in the first two legs. Evans had two chances to get on the scoreboard, but both legs went to Humphries. He then managed to take a 5-0 lead with a 12-darter and a 13-darter.

In the sixth leg, Evans finally got on the scoreboard with a 46 checkout. ‘Rapid Ricky’ then missed seven chances to make 5-2, following which Humphries managed to make it 6-1 via double 5. Evans then hit the double 6 to make it 6-2.

However, the difference subsequently widened once more. Two 14-darters allowed Humphries to extend his lead to 8-2. ‘Cool Hand Luke’ then showed that he had digested the break well, as he scored a 12-darter to make it 9-2. Humphries then finished it off with a 17-darter and a 14-darter.

Humphries can win his fifth major in just six months. In recent months he has won the World Grand Prix, Grand Slam of Darts, Players Championship Finals and the World Darts Championship.
