Casambi, the global leader in intelligent lighting controls, has unveiled its latest innovation – Salvador, a new series of DALI controllers. This announcement marks the technology company’s strategic entry into the wired lighting controls market and establishes its new position as a mainstream lighting controls provider.

Casambi will present its new DALI control product series Salvador at Light + Building in Frankfurt. The range aims to increase flexibility in lighting control by offering wireless, wired and hybrid options. This initiative, according to the company’s founder, is in line with the company’s mission to provide flawless lighting experiences for everyone:

“We are introducing a new level of usability to the world of DALI. From planning to commissioning, wiring, installation and daily use, Casambi simplifies every aspect of lighting control. Our core value is to make work as easy and infallible as possible through our extremely intuitive technology. With this new DALI controller series, we can offer unprecedented flexibility and extend our reach from the wireless to the wired market,” says Timo Pakkala, co-founder and Head of Product Management & Strategy, adding: “Our goal is to Casambi in any installation and in any environment, ensuring full interoperability with major protocols such as DALI, Bluetooth Low Energy and EnOcean, regardless of whether users prefer wireless or wired solutions, or a combination thereof. This creates huge opportunities for the market and the provision of feature-rich lighting control solutions for any environment.”

How does this work?

Salvador allows wired and wireless devices to coexist harmoniously in Casambi applications, without restrictions on combining different product types. DALI drivers are integrated into the Casambi system via wired connections and work seamlessly like normal Casambi-enabled devices. The first two form factors in the series can manage up to 64 DALI addresses and support DALI DT6, DT8, and D4i via the Casambi Cloud API.

The Salvador 2064 has an integrated 130 mA power supply, eliminating the need for additional power supplies on the DALI bus. It also has an internal real-time clock (RTC) with backup energy storage and a housing with cable strain relief. The second form factor, Salvador 1064, requires an external power supply.

The Salvador 1064 is available for sampling and series production is scheduled to start in the second quarter of 2024. The price of the Salvador 1064 will be very competitive, positioning it well compared to the existing DALI controllers on the market. Sampling of the Salvador 2064 is scheduled to begin in the third quarter of 2024. In addition, the company is preparing to launch a special US version, further expanding its commitment to the diverse needs of the American market.
