Bilateral relations have been strengthened over these decades through mutual visits by the leaders of the two brotherly countries and joint coordination on regional and international issues, as well as the desire of the two countries to continuously develop these relations towards a wider range of integration and accelerate their sustainable development plans.

The UAE opened the first embassy in Kuwait in 1972, and Ambassador Rashid Al-Mukhawi was the first accredited ambassador of the State to Kuwait, while Sheikh Badr Muhammad Al-Ahmad was the first accredited ambassador of the State of Kuwait to the UAE.
Bilateral cooperation
The signing of the agreement to establish a joint committee for bilateral cooperation between the two countries on April 24, 2006 in Kuwait, and the first meeting of the committee held in Abu Dhabi on March 1, 2008, are considered among the most important milestones in the close political relations existing between the two countries.

Relations between the two countries are also witnessing continuous development at the cultural, artistic, sports and health levels through exchange of visits and participation in events held in the two countries such as exhibitions, conferences, tournaments, seminars and competitions.
The two countries have agreements in the field of education to enhance cooperation, exchange expertise, and benefit from distinguished experiences, while UAE universities attract a large number of Kuwaiti students studying in various specializations.
