State Bond Subscription Results: Errors and Duplication Lead to Lower Final Amount

This final amount is lower than the 474 million initially announced, due to errors and duplication in subscriptions.

Although below the record of 22 billion collected last summer, this result remains very honorable, according to Jean Deboutte, director of the Debt Agency. “In terms of yield, this state bond is in our top 10,” he said.

It is, unsurprisingly, the one-year government bond which was the most popular, with 413 million euros, including 227 million via the Grands Livres service. The three-year State bond drained 19 million euros, including 7 million through the Grands Livres service.

The subscription period via Grands Livres and placing institutions ended last week.

These State bonds were not accompanied by a withholding tax reduced to 15%, as was the case last September for the one-year bond. The Belgians then paid nearly 22 billion euros to the Debt Agency for this product, something never seen since the good Leterme of 2011.
