The case, in the hands of federal judge Julián Ercolini, also charges Alberto Paglianoformer head of Nación Seguros, already Hector Martinez Sosa, insurance broker and friend of Fernández. The beginning of the same arises from the complaint filed yesterday by the lawyer Silvina Martínezso that the “alleged irregularities that occurred around Decree 823/2021, signed on December 2, 2021,” detailed prosecutor González.

The word of Alberto Fernández

Alberto Fernández, in dialogue with the media La Nación, declared: “I doubt that she would do something like that; If she did it, I don’t endorse it; No one is going to tell you that I asked for someone; I doubt it, but I can’t guarantee that she hasn’t done something like that; If so, she overstepped her bounds,” taking distance from Hector Martínez Sosa and his wife, María Cantero, who was his private secretary for 30 years.

Thus, the former president assured that Decree 823 of 2021 that he signed, which dictated the obligation of public entities to hire Nación Seguros, which was the mechanism that made the suspected managers appear, had the objective of ending the intermediation.

Said decree describes that contracts had to be made through an inter-administrative agreement in the case of the central administration, while the rest of the entities, such as public companies and trust entities, had to do so through the procedures of their contracting regimes. Subcontracting of policies is expressly prohibited.

Furthermore, Fernandez He assured that he “never” spoke with Martínez Sosa regarding his role as an intermediary in the State, with million-dollar commissions, as well as that “he hasn’t seen him for one or two years.”

Finally, in his statements he defended Martínez Sosa by mentioning that ”This is not a Lázaro Báez”. This refers to the businessman’s past in the insurance market before his appearance as manager of the businesses that were reproduced in the government under the presidency of Fernández and the arrival of Massa in the Ministry of Economy. The former president asserts that Martínez Sosa is one of the largest insurance producers in the country and that he had business with the management of Mauricio Macri.
