Monaco summary and goals

PSG might not get past the draw once morest Monaco. And thanks. The Parisians played at half speed throughout the game, thinking much more regarding the Champions League than regarding a Ligue 1 that they have well on track. Mbappé didn’t even break a sweat and went to the box to watch the second half with his mother. She mightn’t celebrate any of her team’s goals.

If PSG did not burn in the first half it was thanks to Donnarumma. Luis Enrique presented a team of circumstances, harassed by the losses at the back and by the imminent Champions League tie. And between the fact that the Parisians came out as if things were not theirs and that Monaco planned to thwart Mbappé’s returnthe first part was very hard for them.

Without a midfield and prone to chaining losses in compromised areas, PSG conceded too much to a Monaco side that had fun. So much so that he forgot that the task was to pierce Donnarumma’s goal. The Italian stretched on countless occasions to keep his team in the game.

Balogun and Ben Yedder, the Monegasque duo, had approaches that might kill the game. The former Sevilla player scored, but the referee invalidated the goal due to offside. Akliouche and Minamino were also active. Nothing was going for PSG, which also had to regret the loss of Asensio.

At the restart, very little from both teams. With Mbappé going to the stands with his mother to watch the game, Monaco slowed down its attacking momentum as the minutes passed and PSG did become master of the game. Luis Enrique adjusted some movements at half-time and his team improved with the changes, but not that much.

All the offensive potential that PSG boasts offered rather little. Not even Dembélé and Barcola, the disruptive ones, served to prevent the game from becoming a I want and I can’t. Monaco forgot to attack, and PSG forgot what the last pass was. Those of the Principality left many spaces, but not even like that.
