As of Monday, March 4, the Purple Corridor will stop operating due to debts amounting to S/300 million, which have not been attended to by the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) and the Lima Callao Urban Transportation Authority (ATU). Faced with this situation, the authorities have adopted a series of measures to prevent users of this transportation system from being harmed.
After failing to reach an agreement with the concessionaires, the ATU will temporarily authorize formal buses to serve the Purple Corridor route, which goes from San Juan de Lurigancho to Brasil Avenue (Magdalena del Mar). In addition, it indicated that it will move its staff to authorized stops with the aim of guiding passengers on alternative routes and lines during this period.
In this context, the 50, a popular transportation line belonging to the San Sebastián company, announced that it will once once more operate on the Purple Corridor route. As you remember, its fleet of buses stopped traveling on the avenue. Abancay since September 2022 because they were seeking to “make way for new transportation systems”, modifying their route along Av. Huanta.
What is the route of 50?
La 50, which will seek to cover the demand of Purple Corridor, will travel the entire avenue. Próceres de la Independencia (San Juan de Lurigancho) and continue along Av. Abancay. Then, you will continue your usual route along Av. Venezuela heading towards the Callao.

It should be noted that the SB route, which goes from San Juan de Lurigancho to Lince, will continue normally. This line starts at Av. Fernando Wiesse, passes through Evitamiento road, av. Miguel Grau, Mexico and ends at Av. Jose Leal.
Currently, 50 promotes the use of the Movilízate card. Those users who have this device will be able to access a discount of S/0.50 on all their trips. This promotion is valid until June 2024.
Red and Blue Corridors will also stop working
Gerardo Hermosa, spokesperson for the Purple Corridor, confirmed that the buses of this transport line will stop circulating following failing to reach an agreement with the MTC. “Tomorrow we will meet with our drivers to inform them regarding their liquidation,” he told La República.
In addition, he noted that the Red and Blue corridors will also stop circulating starting next month. “With its position, the MTC has told them that the other brokers are not going. These days, the brokers are going to carry out the resolution of contracts and will go to arbitration,” he declared.
“They are leaving the mobility of the population in the hands of the pirate combis and custers. In the hands of companies that rent their routes, they do not pay taxes, they do not have staff on their payroll, they do not manage their fleet and they do not respect their routes or differentiated rates. We are going to return to that on Abancay Avenue and San Juan de Lurigancho,” the spokesperson concluded.
