The murder of Fernando shocked the country. In February 2023, the eight attackers, mostly rugby players, were convicted of the crime. Maximum Thomsen, Ciro Pertossi, Luciano Pertossi, Enzo Comelli y Matias Benicelli received life sentences, while Lucas Pertossi, Blas Cinalli y Ayrton Violaz They were sentenced to 15 years in prison for being necessary participants in the homicide.
However, the sentences are not yet final, since the parties have appealed the sentences and are awaiting the decision of the Buenos Aires Criminal Court of Cassation.
