Os Second generation AirPods Pro (which includes both models with Lightning and USB-C connectors) were the only Apple headphones that received new features with the arrival of the latest operating systems launched by the company.
One of the coolest is called Custom Volume (Personalized Volume). The great thing regarding it is that it allows the volume of the media played to be adjusted based on the environmental conditions you are in at the time and your volume preferences.
See how to activate and use this on your AirPods! š§
Compatibility
The feature can be used on iPhones/iPads running iOS/iPadOS 17 or later and Macs running macOS Sonoma 14 or later. Second-generation AirPods Pro also need to be running firmware version 6A300/6A301 or later.
To check which version your AirPods are running, open Settings on your iPhone/iPad and tap the name of your AirPods (at the top of the screen).
How to turn on Custom Volume on iPhone and iPad
There are two ways to do this on your iPhone or iPad paired with AirPods Pro.
- The first is to open Settings, tap the name of the headphones (at the top) and activate āCustom Volumeā in the audio section.
- The second is using Siri, a personal assistant present on Apple smartphones and tablets. Activate it by holding down the Home button, the side/top button or saying āHey Siriā. Then say something like āEnable Custom Volumeā.
How to Enable Custom Volume on Mac
With the headphones paired to your computer, open System Settings (in the left sidebar) and activate āCustom Volumeā.
Simple, right?! š
