Richard Lewis, an American comedian and actor, star of the series “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, died at the age of 76.

Richard Lewis admitted in 2023 that he suffers from Parkinson’s disease, which causes him to quit the standup stage. Despite this, he appeared in the twelfth season of the series “Curb Your Enthusiasm”, which is currently airing.

According to his agent, Jeff Abraham of Jonas Public Relations, the artist died at his Los Angeles home last night following suffering a heart attack. “His wife Joyce Lapinsky thanks everyone for their expressions of love, friendship and support and asks for their privacy,” Abraham said in a statement quoted by The Guardian.

The acclaimed comedian has been a regular performer on clubs and late-night TV shows for decades. Lewis starred alongside Jamie Lee Curtis in the series “Anything But Love” and in the film “Robin Hood: Men in Tights” by Mel Brooks.

“Watching his stand-up is like participating in a very funny and often dark therapy session,” the Los Angeles Times wrote regarding him in 2014. In turn, the Philadelphia newspaper “City Paper” called him “the Jimi Hendrix of monologues”. Director, actor and screenwriter Mel Brooks once said that he “may just be the Franz Kafka of modern comedy.”
