Three workers were killed when a pillar collapsed at a construction site in Florence shortly before 09:00 local time, three others were rescued with serious injuries, and as many remain trapped.
Ambulances and police forces have rushed to the scene.
According to Italian media, the workers were assembling prefabricated buildings, when following the collapse of the pillar, the third floor of the building under construction gave way, which then crashed into the second, dragging the first.

Firefighters with specially trained dogs search the site of the new Esselunga supermarket in Via Maritti, Florence, while machinery tries to remove the rubble.
According to iefimerida, its prime minister Italy, Georgia Meloni expressed her government’s condolences to the victims.
