A look into the writing room of Murat Isik – Sophie & Jeroen

Seven years following the release of the bestseller novel ‘Be invisible’, Murat Isik has released the long-awaited sequel: ‘In the mist of Golden Gate Park’. In this story, the main character Metin wants to leave Amsterdam, not only to develop his writing skills, but also to change his fate. And where better to do this than in America, the country full of possibilities and freedom? In San Francisco, Metin searches for himself, but when the 9/11 attacks occur, he must also understand the world around him better.

In the book ‘Be invisible’ Isik used many elements from his own life, such as growing up in the Bijlmer and his family situation. This new novel once more contains autobiographical elements as he reflects on the young man he once was. In this way he brings not only himself, but also the reader even closer to his experiences and thus ensures a sincere reading experience. Isik experiences the writing process as a series of reflection and self-analysis, in which he constantly makes himself vulnerable.
