“Crossed their swords” Thanos Plevris, Nina Kasimati and Panagiotis Doudonis, from ND, SYRIZA and PASOK respectively today on the show “Society Mega Hour” on the occasion of the railway accident in the history of the country, in Tempe, with a tragic death toll of 57.

“I remember that day more because I was one of the first people to go there and to the hospitals, because really what people experienced is something unimaginable. I was with the relatives and I was watching them, and the fact that you’re looking for your children, and they realize in a short period of time that the hope of survivors is gone and they’re waiting for recognition, it’s something that I think is beyond any human being,” he said. initially o Thanos Pleuris, adding that “in this sense, and along the way because I started in the Commission of Inquiry and because there was doubt regarding me precisely because I was there in those days and for that reason I was excluded from the Commission, I want to say that, I think that the suspicion of relatives is perfectly reasonable. Relatives when they have lost people have the right to question whatever they want”.

He then emphasized that: “We, the work we did and the conclusion we will present, have a responsibility to alleviate this suspicion. In the part of the Investigation, and although the whole wanted the case to be clarified, in the part of the Justice, and the speed that has moved, for the Greek data, shows that the Justice also moves at the same speed. But looking at the people, I understand that we have the responsibility in the clarification part to prove that we have done it correctly and we must be judged strictly”.

To a question regarding whether there is a possibility of seeing politicians before the Justice, the ND MP answered: “here we have two strands. One is the criminal part that has already been prosecuted by the Justice, although since in the part connected to the tragedy someone decided that there should be a political person as well. The Commission of Inquiry is not a substitute for Justice in the area of criminal responsibilities. The Inquest examines political responsibilities for the tragedy that occurred, but also over time, you can see the general pathologies that existed. The role of the Investigative Committee reaches the point of assigning political responsibilities where it considers that they exist, and in the area of criminal responsibilities it is exclusively a part of the Justice and if the Justice reaches political figures, then it sends to the Parliament, already for a case in the 717 contract it had done Some names have arrived from the European Prosecutor and an evaluation is being made. The possibility is open. In Convention 717, which concerns breach of duty and is not related to Tempi, it was assessed that it is not necessary to set up a preliminary committee”.

He then added that “the European prosecutor sent for contract 717. When it concerns a political person, the European prosecutor is not allowed to evaluate but sends the file. And the evidence that came was judged to be insufficient. In the part of the tragedy and the criminal responsibilities, this is in the interrogation of Larissa, there has been no political figure”.

In addition, he emphasized that “it was decided by the Parliament that the evidence was not sufficient for the establishment of a preliminary committee. Criminal actions are controlled by the interrogation of Larissa.”

From the side of Nina Kasimati spoke regarding the withdrawal of the opposition from the Commission of Inquiry.

“We remember this tragedy and this ‘anniversary’ really brings to our memories and what followed that terrible thing that happened. In relation to the Investigative Committee, SYRIZA had requested a preliminary investigation committee which would even reach the days of the SYRIZA government. We had no problem with everything being examined, but the ND did not want that. Mr. Karamanlis, who came to the Inquiry, did not answer a lot, and according to the revelations of Avgi in relation to a directive which he partially incorporated into Greek law, so that there would be no obligation on the part of the state to define national security rules and this he obviously did to cover himself. For someone to be found guilty of something they must have broken some law. This is what he wants to “lean on”, but fortunately the methods are revealed, as well as the arrogance and this anxiety of the government to cover up the case by making decisions at the Inquiry which did not help to shed much light on the case, for example the exclusion of crucial witnesses who they had to come and testify,” he said.

At the same time, he emphasized that “Respecting relatives requires many things. To make relatives seem suspicious because they are relatives is not respectful. They themselves have reported that they have not been able to flourish because they are still trying to build the case file. The hoarding in Tempe is unacceptable and criminal because it was a scene of crime that should not have been covered up. It is also symbolic of the mood of the state and the government that gave the order to pour a lot of cement so that we will never know what happened.”

Panagiotis Doudonis he spoke both regarding the evidence of the European prosecutor and why a preliminary investigation committee was not established.

“The things they have reached here cannot be described. Eit is a huge cover-up operation, successful, because it has the majority of the government in the Parliament. The famous 41% is the counter-argument to shedding light on this case that cost the lives of 57 people. I was in the main part of the Inquiry, I left with a feeling of shame, because of what the Greek parliament has become because the ND has 158 deputies. What happened in there was shameful. They went to blame a dead train driver because that way they might discharge their responsibilities. All this was a “service” to Mr. Karamanlis in order to avoid the responsibilities identified by the European prosecution. In the document of the European Prosecutor’s Office, it clearly says that the offense of disloyalty once morest the public must be investigated by the Parliament. This is connected to the absence of remote control, which if it existed now the children would be alive” said the PASOK MP.

In fact, he added that: “Justice will do its job. As long as there is a parliamentary majority of the ND, do not expect justice. All of this has been set up to save Karamanlis from having to undergo a preliminary examination and possibly proceed with criminal justice. I didn’t find him guilty. They are so arrogant that they don’t want to do what would be done for every Greek, to investigate the case criminally.”
