New York Authorities Discover Human Remains in Babylon Park: Latest Updates and Details

New York authorities announced this Friday the discovery of the remains of a woman and a man in the town of Babylon, in the east of the state, following a student spotted an arm near a park on Thursday.

The Suffolk County (Long Island) Police indicated that they have identified the head, a leg and an arm of a woman, and the two arms and one leg of a man in the same park, Southars Pond, in Babylon, adding that The limbs had only been there for a short time.

Kevin Beyrer, commanding officer of the Homicide Unit, said at a news conference that a student heading to school Thursday morning saw one of the limbs near a road that surrounds the park.

The young woman called her father and he alerted the Police, who went to the crime scene with several canine units and found the remains, part of which were in a wooded area of ​​the park, according to local media reports.

Beyrer indicated that autopsies are underway but disclosed that the remains, which had been in the park for “days, if not hours,” belong to two adults and that the male arms have tattoos.

Babylon is located near Gilgo Beach, an area where the remains of eleven people, many of them sex workers, were found between 1996 and 2011, although authorities have not established any link between that case and the current one.

The Gilgo Beach case has Rex Heuermann as the main suspect, who has been accused of four murders and has been in prison without bail since 2023.
