Xóchitl Gálvez, presidential candidate for the Broad Front for Mexico, began her presidential election campaign on Thursday at midnight in Fresnillo Zacatecas, a city she said she chose because it has a high rate of violence in Mexico.
The candidate participated in a walk with supporters that ended in the center of the municipal seat to give space to Leticia, whom she identified as a relative of a victim of forced disappearance and who urged Gálvez to make “a real change” and read figures of the National Registry of the Search Commission.
“I start with you, good, hard-working and fighting people, people who want to live in peace. Of course Fresnillo wants peace, Zacatecas wants peace and Mexico wants peace, I start my campaign here because Fresnillo is the City where people are most afraid of crime,” he said during his speech and promised “a Mexico without fear.
Gálvez shared his security proposals, stated that he will seek collaboration strategies with the United States and warned that “hugging criminals is over.”
According to the statement released by his campaign team, Gálvez will continue his tour of Aguascalientes and Guanajuato.
