The Minister of Health, Adonis Georgiadis, the Deputy Minister Irini Agapidakis and the Deputy Minister Marios Themistokleous visited today, Tuesday, February 27, the General Children’s Hospital of Penteli on the occasion of the start of the renovation works of the Hospital’s facilities with funding from the non-profit organization “Kaizen Foundation”.
The €3.8 million project includes the renovation of operating rooms that form the heart of the hospital, the first floor and ground floor clinics, the addition of fire safety systems, as well as the redevelopment of its exterior. This is the largest-scale renovation of the hospital’s facilities in the last 80 years, which will effectively address operational problems that have plagued staff and patients. At the same time, changes required by national legislation will be made, such as the transfer of the pharmacy to the ground floor and the unimpeded access of the disabled to all areas of the hospital.
The renovation project of the GNPP, whose studies are in the process of being drawn up, will be carried out in four distinct phases, in order to ensure the uninterrupted operation of the hospital, with a completion date of the works at the end of 2024.
The Deputy Minister of Health, Mrs. Irini Agapidaki, said: “The Ministry of Health is a Ministry of Care and the most vulnerable group of citizens are children. It is therefore very important that with the help of the Kaizen Foundation we are able to provide even more quality services to children. This is the basic mission of the Ministry of Health, to serve all citizens and especially children who are the future of our country.”
The Deputy Minister of Health, Mr. Marios Themistokleous, said: “The collaboration with Kaizen Gaming and the Kaizen Foundation is an example of how private initiative can contribute positively to the improvement of public health services provided to our children and our fellow citizens. And I would like to point this out as a doctor who has worked in a public pediatric hospital. We sincerely thank them for their contribution and support to the ongoing effort of the Greek Government to upgrade the National Health System”.
The founder and CEO of Kaizen Gaming, Mr. Giorgos Daskalakis, said: “We have seen many of the dreams we had when starting the Kaizen Gaming journey come true. We are a company that currently employs more than 2,500 people. We have supported dozens of athletes in their efforts to conquer their goals. Today we are moving towards realizing another dream, with the establishment of the Kaizen Foundation, as we are now able to contribute to society more meaningfully than ever before. The launch of the Foundation comes with the largest donation we have made to date, which will radically change for the better the lives of the children, families and staff at Paedon Pentelis.
The President of the Kaizen Foundation, Mr. Panos Konstantopoulos, said: “From the first moment of its operation, Kaizen Gaming has been alongside society. The founding of the Kaizen Foundation is the natural progression, the next step that allows us to take actions on a larger scale, which will have an impact on an international level. We are very excited to start from Greece and from the Penteli Children’s General Hospital. The renovation of this hospital is a step towards improving healthcare conditions for children. We thank the leadership of the Ministry of Health and the management and employees of the Hospital for embracing this initiative.”
