Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler is impressed by the latest developments in energy-efficient storage and heating technology
Knittelfeld (OTS) – High-ranking guests on the team Austria Email AG at the Knittelfeld headquarters: Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler and a delegation recently visited the production site of Austria Email AG in Knittelfeld. The discussions with CEO Martin Hagleitner and Walter Persch, head of production and technology, as well as the employees of Austria Email AG were characterized by an intensive exchange on questions and challenges of the energy transition in the building sector. The focus was particularly on the wide range of “green products” as well as innovative developments to increase sustainability and energy efficiency in the building sector. But location policy topics were also discussed, as well as “measures for affordable housing” and potential for reducing operating costs for the population through the transformation to environmentally friendly heating solutions. All participants agreed: decarbonization in the building sector – away from oil and gas – is one of the keys to the success of the energy transition. That’s why domestic production is particularly important: With its water heaters, smart storage systems and heat pumps, Austria Email AG creates the basis for independence from fossil fuels in renovation and new construction.
Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler was impressed by the company’s performance during his visit to the company. He emphasizes: “I am convinced that we in Austria can reconcile economy, ecology and social security and thus become a pioneer in the transformation of industry. Local observations like today’s at Austria Email AG make me optimistic that we have taken exactly the right path with the transformation offensive. For business with and not once morest nature and, above all, for green jobs. Because young people want to earn their money through climate protection and not through environmental destruction. Where the awareness of a sustainable approach to our environment meets the innovative capacity of Austrian industry, exactly the great initiatives that will be needed in the future are created.”
“The visit of our Vice Chancellor Werner Kogler is a great honor for our entire team. We are very pleased regarding the appreciation for the services we provide every day in the area of sustainable solutions for heating and hot water at the Knittelfeld production site and in association with our parent company, the family-run French Groupe Atlantic. “We are working with full commitment, enthusiasm and willingness to meet the requirements of the energy transition and are making a strong contribution to shaping a climate-neutral future in the building sector,” explains Martin Hagleitner, CEO of Austria Email AG.
Heating sustainably, protecting the environment and saving money
Austria Email AG expects a significant impetus for replacing heating systems in domestic households through the generous funding as part of the federal government’s renewable heat package, which has been in effect since January 1, 2024. The motto is: Switch to a new heating system now, because subsidies of up to 75% of the investment costs are guaranteed – for low-income households it is up to 100% – currently only until 2026.
From Austria Email AG’s point of view, what the population needs to become more aware of is the fact that alternative heating systems such as heat pumps provide significant savings due to their low operating costs: This results in an impressive amount of around €1,500 in energy cost savings per year to oil or gas. The expenses for the gradually increasing CO2 taxes for heating with oil or gas can also be saved by using a heat pump: for a single-family home, these are currently additional costs of up to 300 euros per year, and the trend is rising.
Thanks to the well-filled funding pots for heating replacement and the cost savings in ongoing operation, the switch to a heat pump pays for itself in an average of four years – this also depends on the level of funding in the individual federal states – and thus ensures a noticeable return Relief from energy costs. At the same time, every citizen can make a contribution to conserving valuable resources and actively do something regarding the climate crisis within their own four walls. The current PV boom also speaks in favor of heating with a heat pump, because by connecting to a PV system you can use the electricity you generate yourself, which also protects your household budget.
