Olympic snowboard champion Benjamin Karl his fourth big crystal ball for winning the parallel overall World Cup can no longer be taken away. The 38-year-old has been declared the winner early because the planned relocation of a canceled race to Winterberg did not take place. Karl leads the Italian Daniele Bagozza by 116 points with one competition remaining.

Karl has achieved three wins in eleven races so far this winter and achieved a total of five podium places. “I love it when a plan works. I’m traveling with a board brand that is still fairly new to the World Cup. We pushed through the project despite many doubters, and it’s wonderful that it worked out so well. “I have also developed further technically and as a driver and I am of course very happy,” said Karl. The Lower Austrian, who lives in East Tyrol, had previously won the ranking in the parallel giant slalom.

After the cancellation of the actual season finale in Berchtesgaden and the postponement in Winterberg, only one individual and one mixed team competition will take place there on March 9th and 10th. This means that Andreas Prommegger and Sabine Schöffmann have already won the mixed overall ranking.

Schöffmann still has a theoretical chance of taking the slalom ball in Winterberg, but her gap to the German Ramona Hofmeister is considerable at 73 points. In the men’s category, Arvid Auner is still fighting for victory in this discipline in third place, 33 points behind Bagozza.
