The lifetime appointment of Organmeetings is given three times a year. The beginning was made in 2023, with more than 1,200 participants proving extremely consistent in this. In March, May and December 2023, employees from large and small businesses, members of organizations and associations with a social contribution and employees of organizations and health units joined the large information chain of Organmeetings, attending one of the three webinars that were implemented.
Who might donate organs for transplantation? What is brain death and how is it different from coma? How are appropriate recipients selected for each instrument and how is this done fairly? How do I get my organ donor card? What is the organ trade and why is it not happening in Greece and Europe? Reasonable questions that arise when a discussion regarding organ donation begins, as well as stereotypes that are still incorrectly reproduced, are the subject of an enlightening presentation and find their answers through the Organmeetings seminars.
The informative program, implemented by the Hellenic Transplantation Organization (HTO) and the Onassis Foundation, with the support of the Onassis Cardiac Surgery Center (OKC), has successfully completed the first year of its dynamic presence and now continues just as strongly in 2024 .
The first two seminar dates for this year are: Wednesday 24 April (15:00) and Wednesday 26 June (15:00). Those interested can fill out the relevant participation form:
Each online meeting will last approximately one and a half hours. First come first served.
They can fill out the form only executives who have the ability to organize collective actionssuch as enabling employee/member participation, based on their role and capacity (for example, HR Manager, Marketing Manager, Association President or Secretary, etc.).
Companies and Businesses that would like to link their CSR policy with information regarding organ donation and transplantation, Media, Agencies, Private or Public Organizations, Associations with social work can now participate in Organmeetings, where knowledge and update meet the second chance in life.
The driving force that activates Organmeetings is none other than highlighting the importance of proper education and information on the extremely critical issue of transplants and organ donation. An issue that directly concerns us all. For this purpose, the first guide in Greece for organ donation and transplantation was created at the same time, which you can “browse” through the following link:
This initiative reflects the commitment of the EOM and the Onassis Foundation to promote awareness and correct information regarding organ donation and transplants, which are the miracle of medicine, saving thousands of lives worldwide and at the same time giving hope to our fellow human beings with irreversible deficiency instruments.
Precious links in the chain of life
The participation of a number of organizations and businesses in the Organmeetings program certifies their commitment to the principles and values of corporate social responsibility and their will to contribute to the strengthening of public health. By proceeding to the valid and scientifically documented information of their people regarding transplants and organ donation, all the agencies involved become valuable links in the chain of life that is created, proving in practice that for them, beyond their purely business and economic action, it has a special value and importance of selfless social contribution.
The companies, institutions, etc., that participate in the Organmeetings are certified by the Hellenic Transplantation Organization, are included in the official list of supporters and allies of this information campaign, while they are also sent souvenirs to share with those who have attended the program . The certification lasts for 2 years.
The precious links in the chain of life for 2023/2024 can be found here:
We sincerely thank them and hope that they will continue in the future to support the great national effort to develop organ donation in Greece. For all of us to have the right to a second chance at life, it is important to understand the value of organ donation. It is not only an act of solidarity for our fellow man, it is mainly an attitude of life that, if we all adopt it, then the benefit will return to us, our relatives and our intimates.
