India’s Ambani Family Throws Lavish Pre-Wedding Celebration
India’s Ambani family is known for its extravagant lifestyle, and their pre-wedding festivities for Anant Ambani, son of Asia’s richest man Mukesh Ambani, and his girlfriend Radhika Merchant, are living up to that reputation. The couple’s actual wedding is scheduled to take place in July of this year.
The three-day pre-wedding celebrations in the city of Jamnagar are expected to be a grand affair with lavish events and the presence of renowned personalities from around the world. One of the most anticipated guests is pop star Rihanna, who was seen arriving in Jamnagar. Rihanna is also expected to perform at one of the events.
Anant Ambani, a graduate of Brown University, is a director at Reliance’s energy businesses. On the other hand, Radhika Merchant is the daughter of Viren Merchant, CEO of Encore Healthcare. She also serves as a director at her father’s company. The couple got engaged in a traditional ceremony in January 2023.
The pre-wedding celebrations started with a communal dinner hosted by the couple and their families for regarding 51,000 locals in a nearby village. All family members, including the bride and groom, served traditional Gujarati food to seek the blessings of the community.
The guest list for the wedding festivities is quite impressive, with the likes of Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Hillary Clinton, Sundar Pichai, Ivanka Trump, and Bob Iger expected to attend. Indian billionaires Gautam Adani and Kumar Mangalam Birla will also be present. Bill Clinton, a long-term friend of the Ambanis, attended Anant’s sister’s wedding in 2018, where Beyoncé performed.
The pre-wedding celebrations will include a private performance by Rihanna and illusionist David Blaine. Guests will also visit an animal rescue center that houses over 2,000 animals, including leopards, tigers, and jaguars. The celebrations will culminate in a star-studded weekend, featuring various traditional ceremonies.
The event planning document provided to the guests outlines the dress codes for each event. For example, the animal center visit requires guests to wear animal print clothing or Hawaiian shirts.
The lavish celebrations will feature 500 dishes created by around 100 chefs to ensure guests don’t have to eat the same dish twice. Hair stylists and makeup artists will be available for the guests, who will also enjoy return charter jet flights from New Delhi and Mumbai. However, the invitees have been asked to limit themselves to only two luggage items or three suitcases per couple.
