O Vivaldi for desktops arrived today version 6.6, with a series of improvements and new features. Among them, important changes to Web Panels, email search and the browser’s native translator, features that are now even more powerful and versatile.
Starting with Web Panelsnow they have full support for Chrome extensions. This means you can extend the functionality of any page you add as a dashboard — which was previously only available for traditionally opened pages.
Also added were navigation buttons to the Web Panels toolbar, which allows the user to fast forward, rewind, or go to the home page of any website added as a Panel.
Search Vivaldi Mail just got better, with the inclusion of new filters for folders, email accounts, date ranges, senders, recipients, subject and message content.
It is even possible to search in reverse and only find emails that do not match the applied filters. Stored in the browsing history for easy access, search combinations can also be saved by the user for later use.
Skipping to the part translationVivaldi further improved the performance from its native tool, powered by partner translation service Lingvanex. The company also claimed to have significantly improved translation quality for some main languages.
For those who love browsing using a dark theme, Vivaldi now allows choose a default color scheme for any web page — regardless of browser theme and system. The browser can now also automatically generate a dark mode on sites that do not yet have this possibility.
Now you can also easily view (and change) permissions for the websites accessed. In the browser’s Privacy and Security settings, there is a panel with all the many permissions requested by pages — including an overview of how many of them have been granted for each site.
