New opportunities for Greece in the aviation agreement with Mongolia 2024-02-29 07:18:38

This intergovernmental agreement will provide momentum for further building mutually beneficial partnerships in the air transport sector, will promote the Greek tourism product in markets, where until now there was no presence and will contribute to the emergence of new opportunities for consumers and businesses in the sector.

The Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, responsible for the Transport sector, Christina Alexopoulou, in her speech, referred to the opening of the market and the healthy competition that will be helped by the start of direct flights between the two states.

“Our country, as a pillar of entry into the European Union for flights originating from Asia, with the expansion to markets such as Mongolia, gives perspective to its commercial activity and further strengthens its tourism product.”

An important point of the agreement, the security issues, according to the responsible Deputy Minister: “The recent – in December 2023 – inspection of the APA by the International Civil Aviation Organization, in the fields of airports, air navigation and flight standards, was completed with positive results. Consequently, those travelers who choose to use Mongolian airlines will know that they enjoy the high security conditions provided for by Greek and European legislation.”

Ms. Alexopoulou then pointed out that: “Mongolia is connected to the EU through a Strategic Partnership Agreement and cooperates with NATO, while this agreement will help build mutually beneficial partnerships not only in air transport, but also in other areas.

Greece has room to develop even better cooperation with Mongolia. The agreement passed today is going to upgrade the relations between the two countries, strengthening in particular our own tourism and commercial activity. New destinations and new perspectives are opening up for Greek businesses and consumers. We are developing our bilateral relations in the field of Transport, promoting our country as an upgraded hub to Europe, Africa and the Arab countries.”
