Happy children’s voices and laughter together with carnival songs and music “flooded” the weekend (February 24 and 25) the cultural multipurpose “Palaia Sfageia”. A boisterous crowd of young carnival-goers took part in the Carnival towns, in which they are essentially “initiated” into the spirit of the Fatherland Carnival.
The picture was similar in the regional Karnavaloupolis, at the Primary School of Rio.
Through these actions the Lilliputian carnivalists, who tomorrow will be the ones who will take the baton to carry out the great institution of the city, learn participation and cooperation, actively participate in interactive theater, get in touch with Aristophanic comedy and shadow theater, they get a taste of the art of the poster, of the creation of the carnival float, the mask, the hat.
On Saturday at the Old Slaughterhouses, the little ones laughed their hearts out with the adventures of Karagiozis and his company in the Shadow Theater performance “The patched carnival king” by Konstantinos Laliotis. They enjoyed the theatrical action “Carnival” based on the Aristophanic comedy “Acharnis” adapted and directed by Dimitris Zapantis. They participated in the workshops “The Art of the Poster”, “Make your own Chariot”, “Mask-Hat”. The actions were watched with special interest and among the rest of the children, 70 students of the 2nd School of Lefkada who visited the multipurpose hall accompanied by their parents and a teacher participated.
At the same time at the Primary School of Rio, our little friends participated in the special, interactive celebration with carnival games and choreographies prepared by the “Ekfrasis” Artistic Center. They also painted their faces with happy touches, through professional Facepainting (in charge of Just Art Creative Painting Workshop: Dimitra Iliopoulou, Marios Tsimpouris). Karnavaloupoli was supported by the Musical Chariot.
On Sunday at the Old Slaughterhouses, the children enjoyed in a carnival atmosphere the “sea” wanderings of Karagiozis in the shadow theater performance of Christos Kalpouzanis “In the Foam of the Sea”, as well as the action “Carnival”. They also created their own carnival constructions in the “Mask”, “Mixed – media” and “Make Your Own Chariot” carnival workshops. In both Carnival Towns of the Old Slaughterhouses, young and old visited the poster exhibition of the Patronus Carnival that began to operate in the exhibition hall.
The bad weather conditions did not allow the Regional Carnival to take place on Sunday in the Arctic District-Kotroni Square.
The appointment of the little ones is renewed for the coming Sunday, March 3, 10:00-13:00 at the Old Slaughterhouses in Central Karnavaloupolis, which includes a multitude of recreational and educational activities.
