More than 90 million euros will be made available, in the coming days, by the UK Government’s Operating Credit Agency (UK Export Finance), to finance part of the works on the new Cabinda International Airport, thanks to the Angolan Executive and 25 other partners .

He assured that 860 hectares of the area where the airport infrastructure is being built are already free of mines, in addition to the completion of the geotechnical study of the site.

Currently, he pointed out, the technical studies of the social and environmental impact project in the airport’s implementation area are also in the conclusive phase.

He also highlighted that, at the moment, administrative details are being worked out to approve the financing and construction contract for the main building, also involving the runway, passenger terminal, control tower, administrative area, helicopter parking, planes, ground support building, cargo terminal, vehicle parking lot, among other infrastructures.

In turn, UKEF’s business manager, Simon Bunckenburg, expressed satisfaction with the progress of the work, having encouraged his country to continue with the financing.

For her part, the governor of Cabinda, Mara Quiosa, said that the visit to the new airport works exceeded her expectations, as the British delegation left Cabinda with a good impression of all the work being carried out there.

The New Cabinda International Airport will be built in 48 months, the infrastructure might generate 1500 direct and indirect jobs.
