From February 20, the payment of compensations by ELGA for damages of the year 2023 will begin, as decided by the Organization’s Board of Directors, today (January 31, 2024).
The compensation payments from ELGA will be at 100% of the calculated value, according to the findings which are registered in the Agency’s computers.
“The two-month faster payment of compensation for 2023, to the beneficiary producers who have suffered losses, was made possible thanks to the hard work of the employees and executives of ELGA” said the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Lefteris Avgenakissaying among other things that “the payment of 100% of the compensations to the farmers, disproves the Kassandras and proves that the ELGA and the FSA they are on the side of the farmers and support the primary sector with actions”.
According to the newsit, as stated by the HYPAAT in its announcement, ELGA’s current available funds, for payment of compensations, exceed 150 million euros, while collections from debts to the Organization of more than 120 million euros are expected.
Finally, until February 10, 2024, 15 million euros will be paid to ELGA by the Ministry of Finance for the payment of its administrative and operating expenses for the first half of 2024, and an additional 110 million euros for the continuation of compensation payments in the context of the ad-hoc compensation program for the damages caused by the extreme weather events Daniel and Elias.
