“F*** I went to WhatsApp, I vomited, why is it green?”, reacted a surprised Internet user on the social network X on Wednesday. Like many other users of the popular instant messaging, he was surprised to discover a change in interface when launching the application to more than 2 billion users. On iPhone, the color palette has indeed changed from blue to green, while on Android devices, which already had green icons, the shade of green has been slightly changed.

“We’ve made some changes to the look and feel of WhatsApp, including spacing, colors, icons and more. These changes allow us to evolve the experience on WhatsApp while making the application more accessible and easy to use,” explains on the help page of its website, the platform. Regarding the color change on Apple’s iOS mobile system, WhatsApp indicates that it has modified it “so that it matches the color of [sa] marque».

A decision which is by far not unanimous, reading the reactions of surprised users on social networks.

The changes made to the application interface concern all people who use WhatsApp, specifies the platform, which speaks of “mandatory update”. However, they may not yet be visible to all users. “It may be necessary to wait some time before they are applied to everyone,” notes the service, recommending downloading the latest version of the app owned by the Meta group led by Mark Zuckerberg.
