Today, Wednesday, an Israeli raid targeted the home of Hezbollah leader Ali Wahbi in Bint Jbeil, southern Lebanon, according to what was confirmed by a correspondent for the “Al-Arabiya” and “Al-Hadath” channels in Lebanon.

For its part, the Israeli army announced the targeting of Hezbollah’s infrastructure and weapons depot in southern Lebanon.

Earlier today, the Israeli army said that sirens sounded in a number of population centers in northern Israel on the border with Lebanon.

For its part, Lebanese media reported that Israeli warplanes “carried out missile strikes targeting the outskirts of Beit Lev and Ramiya” on the southern border of Lebanon.

The Israeli army said yesterday, Tuesday, that its fighters bombed Hezbollah military compounds and infrastructure in several areas in southern Lebanon. He added in a statement that the raids included targets in Taybeh, Beit Lev, Siddiqin, and Khirbet Silm.

He also said that he monitored the launching of 20 missiles from Lebanon at northern Israel, adding that he intercepted some of them. He added that the area of the air control unit in Meron was bombed by an anti-tank missile fired from Lebanon, without causing damage.

In a related context, the United States called on Tuesday to focus on diplomacy to find a solution to the military escalation in Lebanon, following warning Israel that it would continue to pursue Hezbollah even if a ceasefire was agreed upon in Gaza.

US State Department spokesman Matthew Miller told reporters, “We do not want to see either side escalate the conflict in the north.”

He added, “The Israeli government said publicly and assured us privately that they want to achieve a diplomatic path.”

He continued, “This is what we will continue to strive for, and in the end, this would make military action unnecessary.”

Miller pointed out that Israel faces a “real security threat” with thousands of people fleeing their homes near the border with Lebanon, describing this as “a legitimate issue that needs to be addressed.”

The day following Hamas launched a surprise attack on Israel on October 7, Hezbollah began targeting Israeli positions from southern Lebanon. The Israeli army responds with air and artillery bombardment, which it says targets the party’s “infrastructure” in Lebanon and the movements of fighters near the border. The two sides of the conflict exchange threats to expand the scope of the war.
