The OÖNachrichten reported on it on Saturday, and the municipal energy supplier officially announced the reduction on Tuesday. The term new customers also includes all customers who have switched to Linz AG since 2022. Nothing changes for existing customers.
A reduction in the electricity price brake would have no effect on existing customers because the current tariffs do not exceed the lower subsidy limit, the company said on Tuesday. Linz AG offers a price guarantee until September 30, 2024.
The electricity tariff for new customers will be reduced by 15 percent and will be 18.04 cents per kWh net (21.65 cents gross) from March 1st. Accordingly, a household with an annual consumption of 3,500 kilowatt hours saves twelve euros gross per month. The natural gas price for new customers will be reduced by 42 percent to 7.37 cents per kilowatt hour net (8.85 cents gross); the savings with an annual consumption of 15,000 kWh would be up to 83 euros gross per month.
