A bag containing a computer and two USB keys where the security plans for the Paris Olympic Games were stored by the municipal police was stolen Monday evening from a Gare du Nord train, we learned on Tuesday from a police source, confirming a information from BFMTV.

The bag belonged to an engineer from Paris town hall, it was added. Gare du Nord, the latter had taken a seat on a train going to Creil, in Oise.

He had put his bag in the luggage compartment above his seat, according to the first information given to the police by this man who filed a complaint Monday evening at the Gare du Nord police station.

His train being delayed, he decided to change trains and take another which also left for Creil, according to the police source reporting the employee’s testimony.

The owner of the bag explained that his professional computer and two USB keys contained sensitive data, namely the plans for securing the Olympics by the municipal police.

The investigation was entrusted to the regional transport police.

The City plans to mobilize a workforce of 2,000 officers from the municipal police department for the Olympics (July 26 – August 11).
