Lara Vadlau and Lukas Mähr started the Olympic 470 class sailing world championship off Palma de Mallorca with two top 5 results. In the first three races on Tuesday, the OeSV duo took fourth, twelfth and third place. In the interim rankings, we achieved ninth place, which is the right course for the decision in the gold fleet of the best 30 boats. The qualification will be completed on Wednesday with two more races.
Vadlau was satisfied with the performance in difficult wind conditions. “The start is right. We’re sticking with it, looking from race to race and looking forward to tomorrow,” said last year’s fourth-placed World Cup finisher. Vadlau/Mähr are Austria’s only participants in the title fights. Rosa Donner and Niklas Haberl had to withdraw their entry due to the helmsman becoming ill.
