György Hunyadkürti, deceased; the Jászai Mari award-winning, worthy and excellent artist of the Csiky Gergely Theater in Kaposvár died unexpectedly on Monday at the age of 73, the theater informed MTI in a statement.
They wrote that the theater considers György Hunyadkürti to be its own dead, and his funeral will be arranged later.
The Kaposvár mayor’s office announced that the municipality also considers the artist to be its own dead.
Beloved by his colleagues and the audience, Hunyá saw his acting profession as a service, both on stage and in films, the agency emphasized in a statement sent to MTI.
It was pointed out that this is how György Hunyadkürti served his beloved city, Kaposvár, and he served and helped the people sacrificially.
„When he thought he might use it, he traveled 60 kilometers every two days to read to a friend who was in a coma, while carrying entire lectures on his back in Kaposvár, more than once one by one, only filling the space and time with his own personality” they added.
They touched on it, György Hunyadkürti felt that life is only worth living based on solid moral principles.
“He was tall and might only bow in front of the audience” they noted.
György Hunyadkürti was born on April 16, 1951 in Csorvás. He began his career at the Minerva Theater in Békéscsaba, signed a contract with the Déryné State Theater in 1972, and was a member of the Csiky Gergely Theater troupe since 1975.
He willingly undertook independent literary evenings, you ask?! – His production Gondolat-VERSeny was presented on the studio stage of the theater in Kaposvár, and as an excellent performer he won several prizes in recitation competitions.
In 2006, he was awarded the first prize of the national recitation competition organized by the Versünnep Foundation, Magyar Rádió and Duna Televízíó, and a year later the professional main prize of the Versünnep recitation competition.
Like his brother, István Hunyadkürti, he was also discovered by the film industry: he played Sose halunk meg! (1993), József and his brothers – Scenes from a Peasant’s Bible (2003) and Workshop (2003), among others.
His work and performance as an actor have been awarded several times: in 2004 he received the Aase award, established to recognize theater episodic actors, in 2005 the Jászai Mari award, in 2006 the golden ring for Kaposvár, in 2014 he became a worthy artist, and in 2022 he became an outstanding artist.
