Coach Klopp is confident that he will end his final season at Liverpool with at least one trophy. In the 2022/23 season, his team won none. Chelsea lost in the League Cup final for the third time in a row.
Two sticks, no goal
Both Chelsea and Liverpool had plenty of chances in regular time, but just like in the League and FA Cup finals in 2022, no goal was scored in the duel between these two teams. Apart from one disallowed goal on each side, the players of both teams hit the post, first the striker “Reds” Gakpo and in the second half the midfielder of the London team Gallagher.
The attractive duel continued in extra time, Liverpool outshot Chelsea 24:19. However, unlike the final two years ago, the match did not go to a penalty shootout. In the 118th minute, Van Dijk pounced on Tsimikas’ corner kick and headed the far post.
