Three leaders after an excellent weekend for the Football Academy

Go Ahead Eagles O14 played once morest AFC O14 at De Muggert sports park in Wesepe. Sven Berkhoff and Esad Deniz (who beautifully shot in a free kick) gave Patrick Kieftenbelt’s team a 2-0 lead within half an hour. After the team from Amsterdam had scored the tying goal in the second half (2-1), the red and yellows still ran away from the opponent through goals from Esad Deniz and Simon Jaspers Faijer (4-1). With the victory, Go Ahead Eagles O14 took over the leading position in Division 2A from FC Volendam O14.

Go Ahead Eagles O16 took on FC Twente / Heracles O16 at the Zuiderlaan sports park in Twello. Jip Ellenbroek’s team – leader in Division 1A – took the lead in the first half once morest the bottom of Twente thanks to a striking header from Jayden Jankie. After halftime the lead was doubled by a goal from Baris Taflan (2-0), following which Bas Top finally ended the match by putting the 3-0 on the scoreboard. With the victory, Go Ahead Eagles U16 consolidated its status as leader of Division 1A (ten points from four games), while the goal difference also speaks volumes: five goals for, zero goals once morest.

Go Ahead Eagles O13 traveled to the far north for the match with FC Groningen O13. Neither team scored before halftime, but that changed in the second half. The Groningen team took the lead (1-0), but Bram Meuwissen’s team tied the score once more two minutes later with a goal from Mike Nagelhout: 1-1. Ultimately, the youngest youth team of the Go Ahead Eagles Football Academy came out on top with a goal by Onur Sen (1-2), meaning that Go Ahead Eagles O13 continues to lead the rankings in Division 2D.

A match in the north of the country was also on the program for Go Ahead Eagles O21. Against SC Cambuur O21, Martijn Jongbloed’s team faced a 2-0 deficit in Leeuwarden following 22 minutes. The Frisians also scored twice in the second half, sending the oldest youth team of Go Ahead Eagles home with a 4-0 defeat.

Go Ahead Eagles O18 received a visit from FC Volendam O18 at the De Zunnebargh sports park in Diepenveen. Already in the second minute, Leon Opdam scored the opening goal for Jeroen Spies’ team. Diego Wagimin and Cem Eroglu also contributed in the first half, giving Go Ahead Eagles O18 a 3-0 lead at the tea break. After halftime, the final piece went to Adam Benbouker (4-0), who saw his team climb to second place in Division 3A thanks to the big win.

In Schiedam, Sparta Rotterdam O15 was the opponent of Go Ahead Eagles O15. The home team took a 1-0 lead, but Peter Vogel’s men showed resilience. Goals from Joshua Wirht and Jasper Krake ensured that Go Ahead Eagles U15 won 1-2 and recorded their first win of the spring competition in Division 1A, where they are now in sixth place.
