With a team forced to be successful in this Major League campaign and the word of the Bronx high command ensuring that other pieces may arrive, the roster will have some variations.
The moves might affect players like Oswaldo Cabrera, who in 2023 was up and down from the minor leagues. But the Venezuelan utility man is not the only one who is at risk of leaving the roster following making the team for Opening Day.
The fate of Venezuelan Peraza will depend largely on what happens with Gleyber Torres. The young 23-year-old infielder was announced in the utility role in this season, or seen as part of the Yankees’ future project and is expected to be the starting second baseman in 2025. But if Torres stays until the end of the season it would make no sense to leave Peraza relegated to the bench when he might be completing his development in the minors and making adjustments that would allow him to hit in MLB.
