An entire district is under construction in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Next to the Grand-Pont, which has been under construction for almost a year, part of the old Coop warehouses, south of the railway tracks, is being demolished. The entire western part has already disappeared and the mechanical excavators are working on a bed of stones. Ultimately, a new building will be erected on what is now called the Docks site. It will notably accommodate state services, i.e. 450 civil servants, in principle from the start of 2027.

This is one of the two components of the Vitamine project which aims to regroup and make cantonal administration more accessible. The other part concerns Serrières where 500 state employees will take up residence on the Tivoli site from next summer. Both in La Chaux-de-Fonds and in Neuchâtel, the State will not be the owner, but the tenant.

To the east of the site of the former Coop warehouses, the building currently in place will be upgraded and will eventually house the cantonal and municipal archives.

By the end of the year, a report should arrive on the desks of the Grand Council and the General Council of La Chaux-de-Fonds. Currently, we are talking regarding an investment of between 30 and 35 million francs. If accepted, work might begin in 2027.
