Mikaela Laurén, 48, is back in the boxing ring following a four-year absence.
She won her competitive comeback – then sawed off her opponent.
– I am so incredibly disappointed, she says SVT.
After ending her career in 2019 and becoming a mother in 2021, six-time world champion Mikaela Laurén is now back in the ring.
On Saturday, she had her first competitive match in four years when she competed in “Danish Fight Night”.
But the fight once morest Mariami Nutsubidze was short-lived as the Georgian threw in the towel following the first round.
“Don’t fake it!”
Afterwards, Laurén was furious.
– I am so incredibly disappointed. Don’t fake an injury! I’m very angry, I’m very disappointed. I’m thrilled to be back in the ring. But I am very sorry that it was such a short match, said Laurén according to SVT.
“Better than ever”
When Sportbladet interviewed Laurén before the gala, she was clear that her investment is serious.
– The thing is that I have kept going the whole time since I stopped boxing. I never really wanted to stop, I never felt quite finished. But it was “have children or continue boxing” and the longing for children was greater. Now I have children and feel that I am light, fast and fit. I actually feel almost better than I did before I quit, she said at the time.
