According to psychologists at the University of Missouri-St. Louis, all you need to ignite passion is a photo. A recent study found that looking at your partner’s photos for just a few seconds can increase feelings of marital satisfaction, love, and affection for your significant other.

“Viewing photographs of spouses is a simple strategy for stabilizing marriages in which the main problem is the gradual fading of love,” the authors of the scientific work note. To assess the impact of images on the feelings of respondents, a team of scientists developed a special system for displaying frames.
Participants were presented with a set of 25 photographs, each of which appeared on a computer screen for a second. Among them were not only photographs of the spouse, but also simply pleasant or neutral images. In addition, text statements were placed in front of some frames to evoke stronger emotions. Participants were required to use a slider to indicate their level of love and affection for their spouse, as well as marital satisfaction.
Using the data, the researchers were able to evaluate which images increased a person’s love for their partner and whether posted positive statements had an impact.
