Russian Opposition Leader Navalny’s Body Release: Putin Accused of Holding Hostage

A team spokeswoman revealed Exhibitionist Alexei Navalny On Saturday, his body was delivered to his mother, following those close to him had been demanding it for more than a week.

Kira Iarmysh said on the “X” platform, “Alexei’s body was delivered to his mother,” adding that she does not yet know whether “the authorities will prevent the organization (of the funeral) as the family desires and as Alexei deserves.”

She added, “Putin… is the one who gives the orders, saying: Do not return him, put pressure on the mother, break her, tell her that her son’s body is decomposing.”

She stated that an official told her that she had to agree because Navalny’s body had already begun to decompose.

Navalny’s widow added, addressing Putin, “She tortured him when he was alive, and now she tortures him following his death.”

The opposition’s mother, Lyudmila Navalnaya, announced Thursday that she was able to see her son’s body and accused the Russian authorities of pressuring her to bury him “in secret.”

Iarmysh said that the fate of the funeral was not yet clear. She added, “Lyudmila Ivanova is still in Salekhard. The funeral is still pending. We do not know whether the authorities will interfere in holding it in the way the family wants and which Alexei deserves.”

Earlier, Navalny’s team, who died three years following being imprisoned in difficult conditions, had accused the Kremlin of killing him and seeking to hide any trace of that.

According to observers, the Kremlin fears that the funeral will turn into a public event, especially since Russia is organizing presidential elections in mid-March in which Putin is expected to win once more.
