The drone strike on a metallurgical plant in Novolipetsk in the Russian Federation was organized by two Ukrainian special services at once: the SBU and the Main Intelligence Directorate, UNIAN sources report.
“This is one of the largest metallurgical plants in Russia. It works for the military-industrial complex of the Russian Federation and carries out a large number of government orders. Raw materials from this enterprise are used to manufacture Russian missiles, artillery, drones and the like. Therefore, this is a legitimate goal for Ukraine,” – noted the source.
As you know, following powerful explosions at the Novolipetsk Iron and Steel Works (NLMK), a large-scale fire began and the entire plant personnel were evacuated.
The Ukrainian special services reported that the SBU and GUR drones hit installations designed for the primary cooling of raw coke oven gas. The defeat of these facilities, according to sources, will lead to a shutdown of the entire production process of the metallurgical plant for a long time.

It is known that the owner of the affected plant is Russian oligarch Vladimir Lisin, close to Putin. According to Forbes, he is one of the three richest people in the Russian Federation.
According to media reports, until recently the Novolipetsk Metallurgical Plant produced raw materials for Russian companies involved in nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles.
As UNIAN wrote, on the night of February 24, residents of the Russian Lipetsk reported the sounds of explosions in the city. According to townspeople, smoke was visible in the area of the Novolipetsk Iron and Steel Works, the largest steel plant in the country. Governor of the Lipetsk region Igor Artamonov reported in the middle of the night that the fire was only in one workshop and was supposedly quickly extinguished, but there were no casualties.
