We regularly take stock of new developments coming to WhatsApp. Here are the ones that might well land in March.

More profile photo screenshots

One less possibility for more data protection! While some time ago, WhatsApp had removed the possibility of saving the profile photo of one of its contacts, in the interest of protecting privacy. However, it was still possible to take a screenshot… but not for long. Indeed, according to WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is currently testing a block that would prevent taking screenshots of profile photos. A big change which should also arrive in the coming weeks for all users.

A new interface for channels on WhatsApp

WhatsApp is developing a new interface for the WhatsApp Channels feature that has existed on the platform for several months now. This new interface is similar to the one that already exists for chats, and is therefore more intuitive for WhatsApp users. WABetaInfo noted that since the start of testing, some changes have already taken place. The feature should also be available in the coming weeks.

The ability to have “favorite” conversations

A feature that will perhaps be a little slower to arrive on smartphones (although…): the possibility of choosing favorite contacts. A pretty handy way to filter your conversations based on their importance. Favorites should appear in a new tab in chats, at least on iOS, which is the OS on which this feature was released. revealed par WABetaInfo.

Remove channel reactions

For channel owners who want it to be limited to pure information, without the possibility of reacting with emoji, it will soon be possible to impose it on the channel! WhatsApp is in fact working on a range of reaction limitation with three choices: all emojis, only basic ones, and finally no emoji. This feature should arrive soon enough, as it is already available for beta testers.
